Introducing SMS Features
RocketLevel’s SMS feature was developed to help expand on our marketing channels. In addition to being able to send out emails and run Pay Per Click campaigns (Google Ads) and Facebook Ads, we now also have the ability to send text messages as part of marketing journeys and text message blasts.
Sending an SMS to a Single Contact
To send a one-off text message to a single contact you will go to Contacts > All Contacts and click the name of the contact that you want to send a message to.
In order to be able to send the message your contact will need to have a mobile phone number in the phone field that receives text messages. If, for whatever reason, this is a landline or the number is not set to receive messages, they will not receive the message.
Once you're in the contact profile, you can click “Send SMS Message” or go to the “Text Message Logs” tab. Type in the message that you want to send and click “Send.”
Now when the text message is sent to the lead, you will be able to see it in the text message logs.
Viewing a Contact's Text Message Logs
When you go to the “Text Message Logs” tab, you will not only be able to send messages, but you will also be able to see the entire log. On the log, you will see what was sent to them, when it was sent and which user sent it.
Sending a Text Message Blast to a List
Additionally, we can scale this up and send a one-off text message to an entire list. To do that, you will go over to the “Custom List” option in the navigation bar. (Please note - Custom List is now Segments in your menu bar)
NOTE - To send an SMS blast, you'll first need to create a custom list, or segmented list. If you haven't yet, check out this guide:
- Custom Lists/Segments: Written Guide | Video Guide
- ⭐️ A one-time custom list creation service is included in your onboarding package.
You will select a list to which you want to send a message to and click “Send SMS Message,” type in your message and click “Send.” This message will be sent to all the people on your custom list - in this case, it will go out to 2 contacts.
Sending a Text Message in a New Marketing Journey
You can also schedule text messages as part of a marketing journey. In order to do this, go to “Marketing Journeys” and then click on “+ Add Marketing Journey”
You will be prompted with a new screen where you will click “New Custom Marketing Journey”
You will then be prompted to create the marketing journey. You will first be asked to name the journey and create a description. Once completed click “Save & Continue To Triggers.”
In the triggers you will have different options available. For this example, we will select “Form Submit”, meaning this marketing journey will be enabled when a form is submitted in your account. Click “Save & Continue”
You will then need to choose what form will be the trigger. For this example, select the “General Contact Form” which asks for name, email, phone number, and a message. You will Click “Save & Continue.”
You will now be on the screen to “Add Actions.” From here, click on “+Add Action.” You will be able to select what type of action you want to happen. In this case, we want to select “Sent Text Message to Lead” meaning it will send out the message to the number from the form submitted.
We will also add another action. Just like you added the action above, click on “+Action” and in this one, select “Send Internal Text Message Notification” - that means you or someone on your team could receive a message every time someone submits the form. This is helpful if you want to stay on top of the submissions!
You will then add the phone number that you want the notifications to go to as well as the message you want to receive. In this example, the message reads, “You have a new lead! Call them soon!”
In this sample journey, the following will occur:
- Someone fills out the form
- They will receive an SMS message as soon as they submit the form
- The number we added for internal notifications will receive an SMS message letting them know that a new lead has submitted the form.
You can add as many actions as you would like and set the intervals to be spread out between days.
Adding Text Message Actions to Existing Marketing Journeys
Text messages can be added to existing marketing journeys and be mixed in with emails. It adds some variety and versatility to the marketing journey in order to contact people in a way that is convenient for them.
Viewing the Last Messages You've Received and Sent Out
You have the ability to view the most recent sent and received messages from the last 2 weeks in your SMS center. To do so, go to Channels > SMS.
This will show you the SMS received. If you click the green button, “See Recently Sent,” on the right-hand side, you will be able to see the latest messages sent all conveniently in one location.
You can click on the number/name and you will be taken directly to the contact’s individual profile.
